Kyle Datres' Hot Bat Powers Navy By Blue On Saturday

Chapel Hill, NC -- Kyle Datres' hot bat led the Navy squad to a 5-2 win over Blue on Saturday, setting up a FWS winner-take-all finale on Sunday. Datres homered twice while going 3-3 with three RBI and two runs scored. Taylor Sugg gave up one run in 5.0 innings of work to pick up the win.
After Michael Busch drew a one-out walk in the first, Datres ripped a home run to left for an early 2-0 lead. Navy picked up two more runs in the second on an error and Dylan Enwiller's RBI single. Datres' second homer of the game put Navy up 5-0 in the third.
Blue picked up its first run of the contest when Brandon Riley scored on a wild pitch in the fifth. Blue picked up its last run in the sixth when Kip Brandenburg tripled, then scored on a fielder's choice. Brandenburg, who was 2-3 with one run scored, was the only player besides Datres with multiple base hits.
Jake Randolph gave up one run in two innings of relief for Navy. Bo Weiss started for Blue with Teddy Sabato throwing one scoreless inning in relief.
The two squads will square off for the FWS title at 1:00 p.m. on Sunday at the Bosh.
