Friday's Scrimmage Ends In A Tie

Chapel Hill, NC --Â The Blue squad rallied from a 3-0 deficit with two runs in the seventh and another run in the eighth inning to forge a 3-3 tie with Navy on Friday afternoon at Boshamer Stadium. Navy outhit Blue by a 9-7 margin while each squad committed one error.
Brandon Martorano and Zack Gahagan were the only players with multiple base hits. Martorano was 3-4 with one run scored while Gahagan was 2-4 with one run scored. Brendan Illies homered and Gahagan and Dylan Enwiller each doubled.Â
Four pitchers saw action: Joey Lancellotti, Cooper Criswell, Kyle Blendinger and Caden O'Brien.
The Tar Heels' next scrimmage will be on Sunday. The three-game Fall World Series, which is free and open to the public, begins on Friday, Oct. 13.
