No. 22 Tar Heels Drop Pair Of Duals

CLIFTON PARK, N.Y. --- No. 22 North Carolina suffered a pair of losses in its first dual competition of the season with setbacks against Purdue and No. 3 Oklahoma State Saturday at the Journeymen Duals at Shenendehowa High School. No. 15 Troy Heilmann went 2-0 on the day with a pin to lead the Tar Heels, who are back in action on Nov. 26 for their home opener against Appalachian State.

Carolina opened the day with a 31-6 loss to Purdue. Heilmann's third period pin of Austin Nash was UNC's lone victory of the dual.

The Tar Heels then fell to No. 3 Oklahoma State 25-9 to close out the day. Heilmann, No. 9 Ethan Ramos and No. 10 Danny Chaid were winners for UNC. Heilmann is now 7-0 on the year after taking the title at 149 pounds last weekend at the Hokie Open. Ramos beat No. 12 Jacobe Smith 13-8 in a high-scoring matchup of ranked wrestlers at 174.
