Winn selected for MLS Combine

North Carolina senior forward Alan Winn was selected as one of the initial 60 players to attend the 2018 MLS adidas Player Combine in Orlando, Fla., from Jan. 11-17 at Orlando City Stadium. The league will hold its annual combine with representatives from all 23 MLS clubs scouting the top college prospects ahead of the Jan. 19 MLS SuperDraft in Philadelphia.
The Garland, Texas, native was a MAC Hermann Trophy Semifinalist and United Soccer Coaches third team All-American during his senior campaign for the Tar Heels as he led the team in goals scored with 11 while finishing third on the team in points with 24. The first team All-ACC striker was also second in the ACC in goals per game (0.69) and third in points per game (1.50).
Winn went on a goal scoring tear in September scoring four goals in two weeks to be named TopDrawerSoccer National Player of the Week on Sept. 26. His biggest goal of the season game against Fordham in the quarterfinals of the NCAA Championship when he headed home the game-winning goal to send the Tar Heels back to the NCAA Men's College Cup for the second consecutive year.
A committee of MLS coaches and NCAA D1 coaches from every conference selected the invitees, all of whom completed their college eligibility this season. Further invitees, including Generation adidas signings and non-college players, will be announced in coming weeks.
