UNC Places Five On All-ACC Academic Team

Junior David October and sophomore Alex Comsia are both honored for the second time in their careers. Joining them are first-time selections: sophomore Nils Bruening and freshmen Cam Lindley and Mauricio Pineda.
October was a first team Academic All-America selection in the fall of 2016, while Bruening and Comsia were named to the All-America third team. Additionally, Comsia earned the NCAA Elite 90 Award at the 2016 College Cup, given to the participant with the highest grade-point-average among the four competing teams.
Lindley and Pineda were stalwarts on the field in their first season with the Tar Heels. Lindley was a NSCAA Second Team All-America, the TopDrawerSoccer Freshman of the Year and the 2016 ACC Freshman of the Year.
Pineda was a TDS Freshman Best XI First Team and ACC All-Freshman Team selection.
Wake Forest senior midfielder Jacori Hayes is the 2016 ACC Men's Soccer Scholar-Athlete of the Year. All 12 ACC men's soccer programs had at least one player honored, led by North Carolina, Notre Dame, and Syracuse with five apiece.
The ACC Scholar-Athlete of the Year awards were established in September 2007 to be awarded annually to the top junior or senior student-athlete in their respective sports.
Minimum academic requirements for selection to the All-ACC Academic Team are a 3.0 grade point average for the previous semester and a 3.0 cumulative average during one's academic career for undergraduate students. Athletic achievements during the most recent season are also considered in selecting the All-ACC Academic Team.
The ACC Honor Roll, which recognizes all conference student-athletes with a grade point average of 3.0 for the current academic year, will be released in July.
