
Carolina Tops Orange To Garner ACC's No. 1 Seed

North Carolina (27-2, 13-1 ACC) garners the top seed in next week's ACC Championship and will face either eighth seed Virginia or ninth seed Florida State in a quarterfinal match on Friday at 1 p.m. in Rome, Georgia.
Seniors Carter and Rachael James-Baker were honored before the match as part of Senior Day festivities inside Cone-Kenfield Tennis Center.
The celebration continued in doubles when top ranked Hayley Carter and Jessie Aney, playing together for the first time in three weeks, earned a 6-2 win over No. 49 Gabriela Knutson and Miranda Ramirez on court one.
Freshmen Sara Daavettila and Makenna Jones teamed up on court two and pitched a 6-0 shutout over Anna Shkudun and Dina Hegab to clinch the opening point for the Tar Heels.
No. 55 Alexa Graham increased the advantage to 2-0 with a 6-2, 7-5 victory over Maria Tritou on court four. The freshman standout improved her marks to 31-6 on the season, and 12-1 against the conference.
#2 Carter wrapped up a 6-4, 6-2, win over No. 77 Miranda Ramirez on court one. Upon the conclusion of the match, the assembled crowd gave Carter a standing ovation for what proved to be the 163rd win of her career, extending the already established ACC record that was set earlier in the week.
Sophomore Chloe Ouellet-Pizer clinched the Tar Heel win on court six with her 13th ACC win of the season, 6-4, 6-2, over Dina Hegab.
No. 94 freshman Makenna Jones won 6-4, 6-2, over Libi Mesh on court five. She improved to 18-3 in dual matches this season, including an 11-2 record in the league.
No. 31 Aney closed out Anna Shkudun on court three in straight sets to remain a perfect 13-0 in the ACC and 32-6 overall.
