CHAPEL HILL - On a night when Carolina Athletics celebrated its successes of the past calendar year, Cam Lindley was named Outstanding Male Newcomer of the Year at the 2017 Rammy Awards on Monday night at Memorial Hall.
Lindley played an integral role as a freshman midfielder for the 2016 Carolina men's soccer team. The Carmel, Indiana, product started all 21 matches and registered a team-leading seven assists for a Tar Heel club that reached the College Cup.
Regarded by some media outlets as the No. 1 player in his recruiting class, Lindley backed up those sentiments after earning the national Freshman of the Year award by Top Drawer Soccer. He also was named ACC Freshman of the Year and selected first team All-ACC.
