May 1, 2017 | Baseball
GREENSBORO, N.C. --- Louisville's Brendan McKay and NC State's Joe Dunand have been voted the ACC Baseball Co-Players of the Week, while North Carolina's Josh Hiatt was selected as Pitcher of the Week, the league office announced Monday.
Hiatt picked up a win and a save in No. 3 Carolina's series sweep of No. 3 Clemson. The redshirt freshman reliever from Charlotte, North Carolina, worked two scoreless innings in a non-save situation on Friday before recording a save in a perfect ninth inning on Saturday.
On Sunday, Hiatt threw 2.2 innings of hitless relief to get the win in the series finale. On the weekend, he retired 17 of the 21 batters he faced, striking out four, giving up zero walks, and only allowing three hits. Hiatt is now 2-0 with seven saves and an 0.36 ERA with 30 strikeouts in ACC play this year.
Hiatt and the Tar Heels return to action Tuesday at 6 p.m. against Richmond.
