CHAPEL HILL --- Tyler Baum carried a no-hitter into the sixth as No. 3 North Carolina beat UNCW 7-2 Tuesday evening at Boshamer Stadium. Tyler Lynn had three hits and drove in a pair of runs for the Tar Heels, who improved to 42-10 with their ninth straight home victory.

Brandon Riley hit his sixth home run of the year to open the scoring in the second and Carolina never looked back, scoring six times over the next five innings. Brian Miller, Ashton McGee and Kyle Datres joined Lynn and Riley with multi-hit games as the Tar Heels out-hit the Seahawks (26-26) 12-3.

Baum (5-0) got some help from his defense early with Gahagan making a nice diving stop to end the second before Warmoth started a double play to end the third. From there the freshman righty cruised, retiring seven straight before Zack Canada's double ended the no-hitter in the sixth.

But Baum buckled down and got the next three UNCW hitters in order to complete his first scoreless outing since April 18 vs. Liberty. The win was his first since getting a relief victory at Florida State on April 2.

After Riley's homer in the first, Warmoth doubled home Miller and Datres singled home Warmoth to make it 3-0 after three. Lynn's two-run single in the fifth pushed it to 6-0 and Brendan Illies capped the scoring with a bases-loaded walk in the seventh.

Austin Bergner and Bo Weiss pitched scoreless innings before UNCW scored twice in the ninth. Rodney Hutchison entered with two men on bases and needed just one pitch to get Canada to ground into a game-ending double play.

Carolina opens its final regular season series of the year Thursday when the Tar Heels host Duke for the first of three at 6 p.m.
