Schechter Shoots Round Of 64 On Symetra Tour

ROCHESTER, N.Y. - Former Tar Heel Maia Schechter finished tied for 16th at the Danielle Downey Credit Union Classic after shooting a round of 64 Sunday to cap off the tournament. Both were career bests for her on the Symetra Tour, as was her seven-under-par finish.
Schechter came into Sunday having shot 75, 68, 74 over the first three rounds for two over par. In her final round of 64, which was tied for the second-lowest of the tournament, she made eight birdies, including six on the back nine holes. She made only 12 birdies over the first three rounds, ending the tournament with 20 birdies, 11 bogeys and one double bogey.Â
Aiding her in that final round was her driving distance, which went up to an average of 270 yards compared to an average of 255 yards over the first 54 holes. She finished the weekend putting stronger as well, needing only 26 putts over the final 18 holes, compared to averaging 32 over the first three rounds.Â
The course at the Brook Lea Country Club featured a par-72 setup.
The next Symetra tour stop is the FireKeepers Casino Hotel Championship on July 28-30 in Battle Creek, Wis.Â
