Carolina Draws With Gamecocks In Final Tuneup Match

COLUMBIA, South Carolina - No. 4 North Carolina played to a scoreless draw at South Carolina on Thursday to complete the exhibition portion of the Tar Heels' schedule.
Carolina enjoyed an 11-7 shot edge over the host Gamecocks. Five shots were on target and saved by the combination of two South Carolina keepers.
The Tar Heels finish unbeaten in their two warmup matches. Carolina turned in a quality showing last Sunday night with a 3-1 victory over 17th ranked Coastal Carolina in Cary, N.C.
The regular season officially gets underway against No. 12 Providence on Friday, Aug. 25 at 7:30 p.m. The match will be played at Rudd Field on the campus of Elon University.
UNC also hosts Rutgers on Sunday, Aug. 27 at 7:30 p.m at WakeMed Soccer Field in Cary. Both aforementioned matches make up the annual Carolina Nike Classic.
