Carolina Upended 1-0 At UNCW

WILMINGTON, North Carolina - No. 3 North Carolina was upended 1-0 at UNCW on Friday night from UNCW Soccer Stadium.
UNCW (3-0) scored the only goal of the match in the 27th minute. David Lozano delivered a corner that Hjalmar Ekdal put a head on for his second goal of the young season.
North Carolina (2-1) had its six-match unbeaten streak snapped that began in the NCAA postseason run of 2016 that culminated with a spot in the College Cup, and continued with a pair of wins last weekend to begin the 2017 campaign.
Carolina held a 12-6 shot advantage over the Seahawks, and forced keeper Ryan Cretens to make a pair of second-half saves to preserve the shutout.
Drew Romig also made two saves between the pipes in his Tar Heel debut.
North Carolina visits UNCG on Monday at 7 p.m.
