Aney Earns USTA Wildcard Entry; Jones Wins Bracket At Duke Invite
September 17, 2017 | Women's Tennis
NEWPORT, Rhode Island - The final day of the second annual Hall of Fame ITA Grass Court Invitational took place on Sunday at the site of the International Tennis Hall of Fame.
UNC's #22 Jessie Aney entered Sunday having won a pair of singles matches this weekend, but was unable to overcome No. 15 Anna Danilina of Florida on Sunday, falling 6-7, 6-1, 10-7.
However, Aney did earn a wildcard into the qualifying draw of a $25,000 pro circuit event because Danilina is ineligible for the USTA wildcard, as the only stipulation was that the winner had to be an American to earn the wildcard.
