The Tar Heel junior helped UNC to two wins over the weekend.

GREENSBORO, N.C. – North Carolina's Ashley Hoffman has been named Atlantic Coast Conference Field Hockey Defensive Player of the Week, as announced Monday by the league.

Hoffman manned the center back position as North Carolina beat two ranked teams last weekend during its first homestand of the season. Playing at Duke's Williams Field at Jack Katz Stadium, the Tar Heels beat No. 10 Boston College 2-1 in overtime on Saturday and earned a 3-0 shutout against No. 13 James Madison on Sunday. In addition to her defensive play, the junior from Mohnton, Pa., scored the game-winning goal in overtime for the Tar Heels against the Eagles. It was her team-leading fifth goal of the season.

Wake Forest's Nicola Pluta earned ACC Field Hockey Offensive Player of the Week honors.
