The redshirt freshman made a career-best seven saves at Syracuse
GREENSBORO, N.C. – The Atlantic Coast Conference has honored UNC goalkeeper Amanda Hendry for her play last weekend as No. 7 Carolina earned two overtime road wins. The Tar Heel redshirt freshman shared ACC Field Hockey Defensive Player of the Week honors, announced Monday by the league.
Hendry and Louisville goalkeeper Ayeisha McFerran were tabbed as Co-Defensive Players of the Week while Virginia's Pien Dicke was named Offensive Player of the Week.
Hendry was in goal for two overtime road victories last weekend, as the Tar Heels won 3-2 at No. 6 Syracuse and 2-1 at No. 20 Albany. Against the Orange on Saturday, she made a career-high seven saves on 13 shots. Against the Great Danes on Sunday, she made a save and allowed just one goal. Hendry has started all 11 games for the Tar Heels (9-2) and holds a goals-against average of 1.11.
Dicke had a hand in all three goals in the Cavaliers' 3-0 victory over No. 8 Boston College on Friday and ranks second in the ACC with 12 goals on the season.
McFerran posted seven saves on the weekend to help the Cardinals to a pair of wins over top-15 opponents, a shootout victory against Wake Forest and a 4-1 win over James Madison.
Hendry and the Tar Heels return to action on Sunday, hosting Old Dominion at Duke's Williams Field at Jack Katz Stadium in Durham.
