Alan Winn selected by Colorado Rapids

Alan Winn was selected No. 25 overall by the Colorado Rapids during the 2018 MLS Draft on Friday, Jan. 19 in Philadelphia.
Winn is the third player to join a MLS club this offseason as he joins Cam Lindley and Zach Wright who signed with Orlando City SC and Sporting KC, respectively. He is the 49th Tar Heels to join a MLS club since 2000 and the 28th since 2009. The Tar Heels have now had at least three players sign homegrown deals or get drafted by a MLS club in six out of the last seven years.
Winn had a stellar senior season for the Tar Heels as he led the team with 11 goals, was named a MAC Hermann Trophy Semifinalist, First Team All-ACC and a Second Team All-American all while leading the Tar Heels back to the NCAA Men's College Cup.
The Garland, Texas native was also second in the ACC in goals per game (0.69) and third in points per game (1.50). Over his four years at North Carolina he racked up 23 goals and 14 assists and was named to an All-ACC team each of his four years. He helped lead the Tar Heels to back-to-back NCAA Men's College Cups for the first time since UNC won the National Championship in 2011.
