Carolina Hosts ECU, Davidson On Tuesday

CHAPEL HILL - No. 5 North Carolina hosts a women's tennis doubleheader on Tuesday at Cone-Kenfield Tennis Center. UNC takes on East Carolina at 2 p.m., followed by Davidson at 6:30 p.m.

Carolina (2-0) opened its dual match season this past Saturday with a pair of 7-0 shutouts of host William & Mary and Richmond.Â
Sophomore Alexa Graham won the clinching point in the season opener against the Tribe in Williamsburg, Virginia. In the afternoon, freshman Alle Sanford solidified the win over the Spiders.Â
Sanford, Makenna Jones, Sara Daavettila, Graham and Chloe Ouellet-Pizer each won two singles matches, while Jessie Aney and Marika Akkerman were victories in their only singles bout of the day.
The Tar Heels did not surrender a set in doubles in either match.Â
Later this week, Carolina hosts the ITA Kick-Off Weekend and welcomes Illinois, William & Mary and Winthrop to Chapel Hill.Â
Carolina faces Winthrop on Friday at 1:30 p.m., while the Tribe and Fighting Illini square off at 11 a.m. On Saturday, UNC will play at 3:30 p.m. against either William & Mary or Illinois, and the other match is slated for 6 p.m.
