GREENSBORO, N.C. (The ACC.com) – North Carolina freshman Erin Matson has been named
ACC Field Hockey Offensive Player of the Week, the Atlantic Coast Conference announced Tuesday. Matson, a forward from Chadds Ford, Pa., leads the conference in scoring with 10 goals this fall.

Last weekend she scored three goals as the top-ranked Tar Heels extended their winning streak to 11 in a row with homefield victories over Syracuse and Ball State. Matson had two goals, including the gamewinner, in Saturday's 5-1 win over the 11th-ranked Orange and one goal in Sunday's 9-0 win over Ball State.

Matson also leads UNC in assists with seven and points with 27. She earned the ACC honor for the second time this season.

Louisville's Ayeisha McFerran was named as Defensive Player of the Week.

Coming off a busy week with three games in five days, the Tar Heels have just one game this week. They host Wake Forest Saturday at 1 p.m.
