CHAPEL HILL --- Carolina hosted the College of Charleston Sunday and played 16 innings, winning both nine and seven-inning games on a warm afternoon at Boshamer Stadium. Junior Michael Busch and newcomers Dylan Harris and Cam Brantley helped lead the way for UNC against the Cougars.
To start the afternoon, the Tar Heels saw the veteran/newcomer mix help across the board to lead to a 6-5 win in the full nine-inning game.
Carolina was able to cruise in the second game of the afternoon, scoring four runs in the first and collecting 16 total hits to win 10-1 in seven innings.
The Tar Heels will be back in action Friday as Carolina hosts the Fall World Series. The action will kick off at 6 p.m. for the first intrasquad matchup. That will be followed by a 12 p.m. Saturday first pitch and a 1 p.m. Sunday finale.
This weekend is also Carolina's annual Old Leaguer's reunion in addition to UNC's parents' weekend. For more information, contact Dave Arendas at arendas@unc.edu.

To start the afternoon, the Tar Heels saw the veteran/newcomer mix help across the board to lead to a 6-5 win in the full nine-inning game.
- Luca Dalatri started the first game for the Heels and tossed two innings. He was relieved by freshmen Will Sandy and Josh Dotson over the next four innings, who combined to allow just one run and no walks while striking out five.
- The middle of the Carolina lineup was filled with new faces who showed off in front of the home crowd. Catcher Caleb Roberts hit a home run, while second baseman Danny Serretti and first baseman Aaron Sabato both had a pair of hits.
- It was a good afternoon for both Michael Busch – who started in left field – and Ashton McGee, both looking to be steady veteran leaders for the 2019 squad. The corner outfielders both reached base in four of their five appearances.
- The highlight of the game came from Dylan Harris in the bottom of the ninth with the game tied at five. With one out, he sent a no-doubter over the right-centerfield fence, a walk-off that gave the Tar Heels the 6-5 edge to close out game one.
Carolina was able to cruise in the second game of the afternoon, scoring four runs in the first and collecting 16 total hits to win 10-1 in seven innings.
- Cam Brantley, a freshman outfielder from Charlotte, was dominant at the dish. He collected three hits, including a double and a pair of runs scored.
- Will Schroeder continued his hot start with the Heels with another standout performance on Sunday. Hitting in the two spot, he went 3-5 with a pair of doubles, an RBI and a run scored.
- Tom Caufield, a freshman from West Chester, Pennsylvania, notched two hits of his own including a solo home run and three RBI. He batted eighth right after Dylan Enwiller, who went 2-3 with two RBI.
- On the mound, it was a solid outing for starter Nik Pry. He went two scoreless innings, allowing just one hit and striking out a pair. He tossed a scoreless inning with two strikeouts last weekend against Walters State.
