ACC Honors Hayden For Second Time This Season

GREENSBORO, N.C. (The ACC.com) – UNC junior Catherine Hayden has earned ACC Field Hockey Offensive Player of the Week honors for the second time this season, the Atlantic Coast Conference announced Tuesday. Hayden shares the offensive honor with Duke's Rose Tynan. Syracuse's Roos Weers earned the defensive honor.
Hayden had the game-winning goal in both UNC victories last weekend weekend. Against No. No. 16 Wake Forest on Saturday, she scored in the 18th minute to put the top-ranked Tar Heels up for good in a 5-1 win. At No. 19 Liberty on Sunday, Hayden tallied two more goals, netting the first and fifth goals in a 7-1 win.
She leads the ACC in gamewinners with six this fall. Hayden leads the team and is tied for first in the conference with 12 goals.
Top-ranked UNC (13-0, 5-0 ACC) is back in action on Friday, traveling to face No. 12 Boston College. The Tar Heels will stay in Massachusetts to take on No. 5 Connecticut Sunday in a neutral-site matchup at BC's field.
