Tar Heels Wrap Up Fall Play

The UNC men's tennis team wrapped up the fall season last weekend with Tar Heels competing at the ITA National Fall Championships in Surprise, Ariz., and at the Wake Forest Invitational in Winston-Salem, N.C.
At the ITA event, senior Blaine Boyden and junior Josh Peck competed in singles, and Peck and sophomore Mac Kiger competed in doubles. All fell in first-round play and moved on to the consolations. Peck won two matches to reach the consolation semifinals before falling to Stanford's Sameer Kumar 6-2, 4-6, 6-1.

In Winston-Salem, N.C., at the Wake Forest Invitational, freshman Brian Cernoch made a run to the A2 singles final match before falling to South Carolina's Rafael Lambling 6-1, 6-2.
Sophomore Daniel Belovs won the consolation final in the C2 singles draw, beating Campbell's Fernando Clemente 6-4, 1-6, 6-3 in the final match.
Arturo Schmidt competed in B1 singles, placing 14th. Ladd Harrison played in C1 singles, finishing sixth.
In doubles, Cernoch and Schmidt won the consolation in the A3 doubles draw, beating Virginia's Aswin Lizen and Ammar Alhaqbani 6-4.
Belovs and Harrison teamed up to compete in the B1 doubles draw.
