GREENSBORO, N.C. — Senior Robyn Dryer and freshman Thomas Bretzmann represented the Tar Heels on the opening day of the 2018 USA Swimming Winter National Championships in Greensboro, N.C. on Wednesday.

Dryer, who ranks eighth all-time at UNC in the 1650-yard freestyle, took on the 800-meter long course freestyle and finished 15th with a time of 8:52.20. Her time was just four seconds shy of her career-fastest time (8:48.02) as well as the Olympic Trial qualifying time (8:48.09).

Bretzmann also competed in the 800-meter long course freestyle heats, placing 24th with a time of 8:42.53.
