GREENSBORO, N.C. — Following a trio of performances on day one, eight of Carolina's student-athletes competed in the 400-meter and 50-meter freestyle competitions. Junior Brooke Bauer notched the top finish of the night, placing fifth in the women's 50 free B Final and 13th overall with a time of 26.05 while sophomore Dimitrios Dimitriou earned a spot in the C final following his preliminary appearance.

Sophomore Alvin Jiang was Carolina's sole representative in the men's 50 free and placed 35th with 23.75 on the scoreboard. Senior Zhada Fields also made her first two appearances of the championship series, clocking times of 27.18 in the 50 free and 4:36.84 in the 400 free.

The largest cohort of Tar Heel competitors took to the pool in the men's 400 free, the second event of the day. Dimitriou finished 18th in the prelims with a time of 4:02.66 and freshman Thomas Bretzmann swam his second event of the competition, placing 34th with a time 4:08.58. Sophomore Nick Palmer, junior Luka Tomic and sophomore Chris Thames also competed in the men's 400 free and placed 40th in 4:13.61, 42nd in 4:14.93 and 44th in 4:20.99, respectively.
