Chapel Hill – For the 11th consecutive year, supporters of the University of North Carolina baseball program will have the opportunity to kick off the upcoming season with a memorable evening at the Diamond Heels' First Pitch Dinner, scheduled for February 9 at the Blue Zone at Kenan Stadium.
This year's event will honor the 1989 and 2009 College World Series teams and feature Mick Mixon, the current voice of the Carolina Panthers, who was the voice of the 1989 Diamond Heels.Â
The First Pitch Dinner will begin at 5:00 p.m. with a MVP Reception with Mixon and special Carolina baseball guests. The silent auction and meet and greet with the 2019 Tar Heels will begin at 5:45 p.m., with the dinner program and live auction starting at 6:30 p.m.
Silent auction items include an Adam Warren signed MLB jersey, a Kyle Seager signed bat, a 2018 College World Series chair signed by Coach Fox, two suite tickets with parking to the game against South Carolina in Charlotte, a UNC Nike baseball apparel package, two floor seats to a UNC Men's Basketball game and more. Â
Highlighting this years live auction are three MLB experiences where you can choose between Baltimore, New York or joining the Tar Heels in Pittsburgh. In Baltimore, you can see the Orioles play with two front row tickets, compliments of BJ Surhoff, or travel to New York and with two tickets to watch former Tar Heel Andrew Miller take on the Yankees. If you are planning on traveling to Pittsburgh to watch the Tar Heels take on the Pitt Panthers, why not go out a few days early with two tickets to see Colin Moran and the Pittsburgh Pirates take on the Texas Rangers? The live auction will also include a baseball experience for your son to be a Carolina baseball player for a day and a coaches box experience for you and seven friends to watch the conference game of your choice.Â
