Bruening & Comsia Named Academic All-Americas

CHAPEL HILL -- Seniors Nils Bruening and Alex Comsia were two of 33 student-athletes named to the Google Cloud Academic Division I Men's All-America team selected by the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA). Both Bruening and Comsia are repeat selections as they were both third-team Academic All-Americans in 2016.
Comsia, a native of North Vancouver, British Columbia, was named ACC Defender of the Year during his senior campaign as he led the Tar Heels to one of the best defenses in the country. The winner of the NCAA Elite 90 Award in 2016, which recognizes the highest GPA at the College Cup, Comsia is a three-time member of the All-ACC Academic team while also earning First Team Scholar All-South Region honors in 2017. Comsia is also a finalist the the Senior CLASS Award and a semifinalist for the MAC Hermann Trophy Award.
Bruening, a business administration major from Hamburg, Germany, is a two-time All-ACC Academic team member while also being named to the ACC Honor Roll in 2015 and 2016. The senior led the team in shots (41) during the 2018 season while finishing with six goals and four assists.
