HEAD COACH JAN MANN - COMMENTS
On what she has learned about this team
"The team is definitely a hard-working team. We don't have to tell them to get out here in the offseason. They are driven to do well, and we had the majority of our girls over the winter break play in tournaments, and that's huge for them to stay in that mode. But day in and day out, even with the weather, before we got into season they were out here practicing. So, that says a lot to me."
On dealing with winter weather in practice
"We had to start our spring season a little later because we played in Mexico and it was very much towards the end of the season, and then once we actually started practice was when all of the weather came. So, we've been battling weather conditions now. We've able get in five rounds of qualifying, but it's been wrapped up in everything they owned, which is not bad, but we've had some good qualifying rounds. Considering the conditions, the scores have been a little higher than what we would like, and you have to be careful that you don't get comfortable with shooting those scores. So, we've done some things where we put them off the red tees where they're shooting well under par and doing some things to try to have a mindset that they're playing well. So, hopefully it works."
On what to expect out of the course
"The PGA used to play on this course. The thing I remember is that there were some elevated greens, and the greens were very short from front to back, very narrow, and so you had to be on with your wedges. If the wind blows, it becomes a different course, and the wind can definitely blow down there. Looks like we are going to have good weather. So, hopefully we'll be able to hang with the competition."
