No. 1 Tar Heels Top Michigan, 4-1

CHAPEL HILL – The No. 1 ranked North Carolina women's tennis team took down visiting Michigan, 4-1, on Sunday in its return home to Chapel Hill following the ITA National Indoor Championship win last week.
With the win, the team moves to 11-0 to stay undefeated on the season. The victory marks North Carolina's third win over Michigan in the last four years.
The Tar Heels overcame a pair of 3-0 deficits to start doubles play to take the first point of the afternoon, courtesy of wins from the duos of Jessie Aney/Alexa Graham and Marika Akkerman/Makenna Jones.
In singles play, No. 21 Jessie Aney collected the first singles point of the afternoon with a 6-2, 6-3 win on court five.
Next to her on court six, it didn't take long for Chloe Ouellet-Pizer to finish up her 6-2, 6-3 win over Mira Ruder-Hook, putting the Tar Heels up 3-0.
To close out the afternoon, it was No. 52 Sara Daavettila winning in straight sets in a ranked-on-ranked matchup. She put away No. 56 Chiara Lommer, 6-4, 6-1, on court two to give the Tar Heels their 11th win of the year.
The victory starts a welcomed stretch of five consecutive home matches at Cone-Kenfield Tennis Center. The Tar Heels will return on Wednesday to kick off ACC play against NC State for a 3 p.m. match.
