Chapel Hill – The No. 6 North Carolina Tar Heels clinched the ACC Coastal Division Championship for the second consecutive year thanks to a defeat of Virginia Tech on Thursday afternoon coupled with Duke's defeat to Georgia Tech. The Tar Heels will look to clinch its final ACC series of the year on Friday at 1 p.m. against Virginia Tech. The final meeting of the three-game series will take place on Saturday at 2 p.m.
Carolina is still fighting for the top overall seed in the ACC Tournament, which will be determined by the highest overall winning percentage in the conference at the end of the weekend. After clinching the Coastal, the Tar Heels will be guaranteed one of the top two seeds in the ACC Tournament.
