Two Tar Heels Named To All-ACC Academic Team
June 25, 2018 | Men's Tennis, Academics
North Carolina's Blaine Boyden and Benjamin Sigouin have been named to the 2018 Atlantic Coast Conference Academic Men's Tennis Team, announced Monday by the league. The team recognizes outstanding academic and athletic performance. It's the second consecutive honor for Boyden and the first for Sigouin.
Boyden, a rising senior from Raleigh, is majoring in business administration. He earned third-team All-ACC honors during the 2018 season, when he went 23-2 in singles play, mostly at the No. 5 spot.
Sigouin joined the UNC team in January of 2018 and had an immediate impact, compiling a 16-4 singles record, mostly at the No. 2 spot. He was selected as the ACC Freshman of the Year and earned first team All-ACC honors. He has not yet declared a major.
Minimum academic requirements for selection to the All-ACC Academic Team are a 3.0 grade point average for the previous semester and a 3.0 cumulative average during one's academic career for undergraduate students. Athletic achievements during the most recent season are also considered in selecting the All-ACC Academic Team.
