Jones, Ouellet-Pizer Earn ACC Academic Honors

GREENSBORO, N.C. - North Carolina's Makenna Jones and Chloe Ouellet-Pizer have been named to the 2017-18 All-Atlantic Coast Conference Academic Women's Tennis Team, announced Monday by the league. Both Tar Heels earned the recognition, which honors outstanding academic and athletic performance, for the second year in a row.
Jones, a rising junior from Greenville, S.C., is majoring in exercise and sport science. During the 2018 season, she earned ITA All-America honors and was the Most Valuable Player of the ACC Championship. Jones posted a 35-5 overall singles record and was just the second player in program history to record a 14-0 mark against the ACC.
Ouellet-Pizer, a rising senior from Chapel Hill, is majoring in psychology. In 2018, she had a 27-12 overall singles record, including a 10-4 record in the ACC and 19-7 in dual matches.
Minimum academic requirements for selection to the All-ACC Academic Team are a 3.0 grade point average for the previous semester and a 3.0 cumulative average during one's academic career for undergraduate students. Athletic achievements during the most recent season are also considered in selecting the All-ACC Academic Team.
Duke's Sam Harris was honored as the ACC Scholar-Athlete of the Year.
