NC Courage star earns league's weekly award
CHICAGO (June 26, 2018) - North Carolina Courage forward Crystal Dunn was voted the National Women's Soccer League (NWSL) Player of the Week by the NWSL Media Association for Week 13 of the 2018 NWSL season. Dunn was a national champion soccer player and the 2012 National Player of the Year in 2012 when she played at the University of North Carolina for Coach Anson Dorrance from 2010-13.
Dunn, 25, scored a brace for North Carolina to help the club rebound from its first loss of the season to earn an impressive 4-1 win on the road against the Seattle Reign FC at Memorial Stadium in Seattle. With the win, the Courage is the first team to reach double digits in wins (10) this season.
In the 33rd minute, the New Hyde Park, N.Y. native got on the end of a sequence that began with a throw-in into the box for forward Lynn Williams, who laid the ball off for Dunn to fire into the lower left corner past Seattle Reign FC goalkeeper Lydia Williams.

Dunn would seal the victory for the Courage in the 70th minute, once again connecting with Williams, and running up the left wing onto a beautiful ball before hitting a clinical left-footed shot inside the far post.
The U.S. international is now ranked second in goals scored in the NWSL with six on the season.
The University of North Carolina product played all 90 minutes and finished with a team-high nine shots (six shots on goal), five chances created and 79 touches in the game, according to Opta.
It is the eighth time Dunn has been honored as the NWSL Player of the Week and the fifth time a member of Courage has won the award. She extended her advantage as the all-time leader for the most NWSL Player of the Week awards.
The North Carolina Courage will return to action Saturday, June 30 at 3:30 p.m. ET in the NWSL Game of the Week on Lifetime against the Orlando Pride at Orlando City Stadium in Orlando, Fla.
