Comsia, Pineda Named CSN Preseason All-Americans

Senior defender Alex Comsia and junior midfielder Mauricio Pineda were both named College Soccer News Preseason All-Americans. Comsia was named to the first-team and Pineda to the third-team.
Comsia, a native of Vancouver, B.C., is a three-year starter for the Tar Heels who was named an All-ACC player last year en route to helping lead Carolina to its second consecutive NCAA Men's College Cup. Also named to the ACC All-Freshman team in 2015, Comsia is a standout in the classroom being named a Scholar and Academic All-American, and was the recipient of the Elite 90 Award in 2016 given to the player with the highest GPA at the College Cup.
Pineda was named a third team All-ACC member last year while starting all 22 games for the Tar Heels in the midfield while recording three goals and on assist. A native of Bolingbrook, Illinois, the junior scored the game-winning goal against UNCW in the second round of the NCAA Championships. The former No. 5 player in his recruiting class, he was also named to the TopDrawerSoccer Freshman Best XI First Team and ACC all-freshman team in 2016.
