Chapel Hill - North Carolina juniors Michael Busch and Gianluca Dalatri were both selected to the D1 Baseball preseason All-America team, the site announced Monday. Busch was named to the first team while Dalatri was selected to the third team.Â
A native of Inver Groves Heights, Minn., Busch finished second on the team with a .317 batting average but led the team in runs scored (70), home runs (13), RBI (63), slugging percentage (.521), walks (55) and on base percentage (.465). He was named to the Golden Spikes Award Midseason Watch List as well as named to the All-ACC second team and was voted second team All-Region by ABCA/Rawlings. Busch was also named a preseason All-America by Perfect Game heading in to the 2019 season.Â
Dalatri, a native of Wall Township, N.J., missed a majority of the 2018 season due to injury after an All-America campaign during his freshman season. The right-handed pitcher went 2-2 with a 3.33 ERA in seven appearances last year during the Heels run to Omaha. In two seasons, Dalatri is 9-5 with a 3.34 ERA with 116 strikeouts and only 26 walks.Â
