Heels Hold First Scrimmage Of The Spring

Chapel Hill, N.C. -- Ashton McGee's two-run double keyed a three-run eighth inning to lead Navy to a 4-1 win over Blue on Friday afternoon at Boshamer Stadium as the Tar Heels held their first scrimmage of the spring. McGee's double was one of six doubles on the day. Will Schroeder, Jake Holtzapple, Aaron Sabato, Jackson Hesterlee and Cam Brantley also doubled. Holtzapple's 2-2 day at the plate made him the only player with multiple base hits.
Tyler Baum, Joey Lancellotti, Austin Bergner, Will Sandy and Caden O'Brien all saw action on the mound. Baum and Sandy each hurled four scoreless innings, with Sandy striking out seven batters.
The Tar Heels will hold their next closed scrimmage on Saturday.
