Carolina Notes
• The Tar Heels are 11-3 overall, 1-0 in ACC play and 3-1 on the road.
• Carolina is 54-12 all-time in ACC openers, including 11-5 under head coach Roy Williams.
• Carolina's points per possession of .91 was its lowest in a win this year (.93 in previous game vs. Harvard).
• Pitt's points per possession of .66 was the second lowest by an opponent this year.
• Carolina is 9-1 this year when scoring 80 or more points and 291-34 under Roy Williams.
• Carolina committed 11 turnovers, four fewer than Pitt, and out-scored the Panthers, 20-9 in points off turnovers. It was the second game in a row the Tar Heels turned it over just 11 times.
• UNC made 10 three-pointers (seven in the first half). It was the fifth time this year Carolina has made 10 or more threes. The seven threes in the opening 20 minutes equal the most in a half this year (UNC also made seven in the first half vs. Saint Francis and Gonzaga).
• Pitt's 19 field goals, two threes and 19 three-point attempts were season lows by an opponent.Â
• Pitt's 20 free throws, 32 free throw attempts, 16 offensive rebounds and 46 total rebounds were season highs by UNC opponents.
• Carolina led for 38:35 and never trailed.
• The game was tied 12-12 before Cameron Johnson hit a three to give UNC a 15-12 lead. The Panthers scored to make it 15-14, then the Tar Heels went on a 16-0 run to lead 31-16.
• Carolina held the Panthers without a field goal for 12:10 in the first half. Pitt missed 15 consecutive field goal attempts and UNC forced seven turnovers in that span.
Â
Tar Heel Player Notes
• Cameron Johnson returned to the Petersen Events Center, where he played from 2014-17, and had 15 points, nine rebounds and four assists.Â
• Coby White led all scorers with 22 points. It was the fourth time he's led UNC in scoring (first since the loss at Michigan) and his second 20-point game of the season.
• White connected on four three-pointers. He made two in the previous three games.
• Garrison Brooks had nine points, eight rebounds, five assists and no turnovers. The five assists were a career high and mark the first time he's led the Tar Heels in scoring.
• Luke Maye posted his 23rd career double-double (fifth this year) with 17 points and a game-high 11 rebounds.
• Maye became the 29th Tar Heel with 700 or more career rebounds (now has 704). He is one of three Tar Heels (with Ademola Okulaja and Jason Capel) with 1,000 points, 700 rebounds and 80 three-pointers.

Â

• The win was the 80th ACC road win for Williams. He is third all-time behind Mike Krzyzewski and Dean Smith in ACC road wins.Â
• His ACC road winning percentage of .630 is second best all-time behind Duke's Vic Bubas (.667).
Â
Series Notes
