Busch Named Perfect Game All-America

Chapel Hill - North Carolina junior Michael Busch was named to the Perfect Game pre-season All-America second team, the site announced Tuesday. Busch returns to Chapel Hill after a breakout sophomore campaign that saw him earn Chapel Hill Regional Most Outstanding Player after batting .636 with nine RBI in a span of three games.Â
A native of Inver Groves Heights, Minn., the first baseman finished second on the team with a .317 batting average but led the team in runs scored (70), home runs (13), RBI (63), slugging percentage (.521), walks (55) and on base percentage (.465). He was named to the Golden Spikes Award Midseason Watch List as well as named to the All-ACC second team and was voted second team All-Region by ABCA/Rawlings. Â
The Tar Heels open season play on Friday, Feb. 15, in Chapel Hill with a three-game series against Xavier. The Heels will start the 2019 season with 13 consecutive home games before taking the road on Friday, March 8, to open ACC play at Clemson.Â
