Blue Scores Late To Take Saturday's Scrimmage

Chapel Hill, NC - After being no hit for the first six innings, the Blue squad rallied for five runs in the last two innings to take a 5-2 win over Navy in an eight-inning scrimmage on Saturday afternoon at Boshamer Stadium. Blue won despite being outhit by a 7-3 margin. There was only one error in the scrimmage.
Patrick Alvarez and Aaron Sabato combined to drive in four of Blue's runs. Despite going 0-4 at the plate, Alvarez drove in two runs while Sabato drove in two runs with a 1-3 day at bat. Jake Holtzapple drove in the fifth Blue run. Caleb Roberts was 1-3 for Navy with a solo home run.while Mikey Madej was 2-4.
Six pitchers saw action: Connor Ollio, Will Sandy, Isaiah Bennett, Andrew Grogan, Austin Elliott and Nick James. Ollio was outstanding, throwing five hitless innings while striking out four and walking just one.
Carolina's always-popular Fall World Series, a best of three affair, will begin on Thursday, Oct. 24 at 3:00 p.m.
