Graham Seeks ITA All-American Singles Crown
October 12, 2019 | Women's Tennis
TULSA, Okla. - North Carolina senior Alexa Graham made a dramatic comeback to win her semifinals singles match over Anna Turati of Texas on Saturday at the 2019 ITA Women's All-American Championships.
Third seeded Graham will seek to become only the second Tar Heel women's tennis player to capture the Women's All-American singles title when she takes on No. 12 seed Ashley Lahey of Pepperdine in the title match on ESPNU Sunday at 7 p.m. ET.
Lahey is seeking her third title in as many tournaments already this fall. The Pepperdine senior knocked off Graham, 7-6 (5), 6-1, on her way to the Oracle/ITA Masters last month.Â
No strangers to each other, Graham pinned Lahey with her last collegiate singles loss back in May in the second round of the 2019 NCAA Singles Championship in Orlando by scores of 7-6, 6-4.Â
Then freshman Jamie Loeb is the first and only Carolina player to win the ITA Women's All-American championship when she miraculously came through the prequalifying draw and the qualifying draw to win 11 matches in nine days to garner the 2013 crown.Â
