Peck Advances To Round Of 16, Doubles Teams Win At ITA Carolina Regional

CARY, N.C.—The University of North Carolina's Josh Peck advanced to the round of 16 in the main singles draw on Saturday at the ITA Carolina Regional, cruising past Roger Rogowski of UNCG 6-1, 6-2 in the third round on Saturday.
Seeded third, Peck will face NC State's Yannai Barkai (seeded between 17-24) on Sunday morning at 9 a.m. in the event hosted by Duke University. Peck is 3-0 with three consecutive straight-set wins this weekend.
Meanwhile, UNCW's Bruno Caula defeated Tar Heel Simon Soendergaard in the third round 6-4, 6-4 and 10th-seeded Connor Thompson of South Carolina beat beat UNC's Mac Kiger 6-2, 7-5.
In doubles action, the Tar Heel duos of Kiger and Soendergaard (seeded third) and Mark Dillon and Harrison both advanced to the round of 16 with a pair of Saturday victories.
Harrison and Dillon won their first match 8-5 over Pablo Juez Torres and Sebastian Bromley of NC Central before winning impressively over No. 7 seed Constandinos Christoforou and Leo Menezes (Charlotte) by an 8-2 count.
Kier and Soendergaard eased past Brent Fenno and Yuval Soloman of Wake Forest 8-1 before beating USC Upstate's Fernando Bernardes and Leon Roider in the second round 8-2.
