Tar Heels in Eleventh After Second Day of Landfall

WILMINGTON, N.C. - The North Carolina women's golf team is in eleventh place following the second round of the Landfall Tradition at the Country Club of Landfall Dye Course. Carolina was led by sophomores Nicole Lu and Jennifer Zhou, both recorded a 1-over-par 73 in day two of the three day event. As a team, the Tar Heels combined for an 8-over-par 296.
Lu recorded four birdies in her round and is playing the par 3 holes under-par with a scoring average of 2.88. She is tied for 25th place heading into the final round.
Joining her teammate in a tie for 25th, Zhou tallied three birdies and 12 pars en route to her 1-over-par performance. Notably, Zhou is currently 1-under-par on par 5s and has a scoring average of 4.88 strokes per par 5.
Freshmen Krista Junkkari and Kayla Smith moved up the leaderboard with 3-over-par 75 performances in the second round.
Junior Ava Bergner rounded out the Tar Heels' team efforts with a 5-over-par 77.
Senior Mariana Ocano, who is competing as an individual this tournament, recorded a 4-over-par 76.
The Alabama Crimson Tide lead the tournament at 13-under-par.
The third and final round of the Landfall Tradition will begin at 8:45 a.m. on Sunday.
