Navy Scores Late To Take Saturday's Scrimmage

Chapel Hill, NC - The Navy squad scored all of their runs in the last three innings to take a 9-3 win over Blue in a a nine-inning scrimmage on Saturday afternoon at Boshamer Stadium. Blue outhit Navy by a 12-10 margin but were hurt by a pair of costly errors.
Navy trailed 2-0 after six but took the lead with six runs in the top of the seventh. Angel Zarate had an RBI double, and Earl Semper and Danny Serretti each had two-run singles. Another run scored on a wild pitch. Navy picked up another run in the eighth on a safety squeeze, then plated two more runs in the ninth on Joey Lancellotti's sacrifice fly and an error. Blue scored their three runs on a wild pitch, a Tyler Kehoe RBI-single and Mikey Madej's solo homer.
Four Navy players had multiple base hits. Earl Semper was 2-3 with two RBI and one run scored, while Danny Serretti was 2-5 with two RBI and one run scored. Joey Lancellotti went 2-5 with one RBI and two runs scored, while Clemente Inclan was 2-5.Â
Four Blue players also had multiple base hits. Will Stewart was 3-4, Mikey Madej was 2-5 with one RBI and one run scored, Patrick Alvarez was 2-4 with one run scored, and Jake Holtzapple was 2-4. Madej had a solo homer, his second in two games. Stewart, Alvarez, Zarate and Dylan Harris each had a double.
Seven pitchers saw action: Connor Ollio, Max Alba, Davis Palermo, Joseph Charles, Josh Dotson, Austin Elliott and Isaiah Bennett. Alba hurled four scoreless innings by giving up two hits while striking out three.Â
The Heels will hold their next scrimmage on Thursday.
