Tar Heels Grab Spots In National Fall Rankings

CHAPEL HILL—University of North Carolina men's tennis doubles team Mac Kiger and Simon Soendergaard grabbed the No. 7 spot in the final 2019 Oracle ITA National Fall Rankings, released on Wednesday. Meanwhile, senior Josh Peck earned the No. 82 spot in the singles ranking.
Kiger and Soendergaard won the ITA Carolina Regional doubles championship last month, then reached the semifinals of the 2019 Oracle ITA Fall National Championships last week in Newport Beach, Calif. The pair won their first-round match at the National Fall Championships, upsetting the event's top seed and sixth-ranked doubles team in the first of three consecutive wins before falling in the semifinals.
Peck also earned an invitation to the ITA Fall National Championships, dropping both of his singles matches.
The collegiate season resumes in January with the ITA Kickoff Weekend (Jan. 24-27) at campus sites. The event marks the opening of the team dual match season.
