CHAPEL HILL – North Carolina women's golf head coach Jan Mann announced the addition of two players to the women's golf team with the signing of National Letters of Intent on Wednesday. Nicole Adam and Natalia Aseguinolaza Martin will enroll next year and join the team for the 2020-21 season.
"We are excited to have Nicole and Natalia join our Carolina family," Mann said. "They have been on our radar for quite some time and it has been impressive to see their development and growth over the last several years. Both individuals have a tremendous amount of tournament experience competing against the top amateurs in the world. As proven winners, we are confident that they will make an immediate impact on the success of our program. We look forward to Nicole and Natalia being great representatives of our team not only on the golf course but also in the classroom."

Nicole Adam Hometown: Pinehurst, N.C. High School: The O'Neal School
Adam currently checks in at No. 1 in the Carolinas and No. 9 in Golfweek rankings for the 2020 class. She has three career first-place finishes to her name including the 2019 American Junior Golf Association Junior Championship, the 2018 Carolinas Golf Association Dogwood State Junior Girls' Championship and the 2018 U.S. Kids' Teen World Championship. Adam has placed in the top 10 seven other times, including finishing sixth at the 2019 AJGA Girls' Championship and eighth at the 2019 Dustin Johnson World Junior Championship.
"Signing to Carolina has been my dream for a long time and now it is coming true," Adam said. "I would like to thank my parents, family and friends for all the love and support throughout this journey. To my coach, Donna Andrews, for always being there for me and helping me be the best I can be. Adam is the daughter of the Jeff and Dawn Adam.
Name: Natalia Aseguinolaza Martin
Nicole Aseguinolaza Martin Hometown: San Sebastian, Guipuzcoa High School: St. Patrick's English School
A member of the Spanish national team, Martin is No. 86 in the European Golf Ranking and the 98th-ranked amateur in the world. She competed for Spain in the 2019 European Team Championships where she was part of the championship team and is currently the No. 3 junior player in all of Spain.
"I am looking forward to signing letter of commitment and becoming part of the UNC family," Martin said.
As an individual, Martin won two individual titles in 2019 at the Spanish Under-18 Championship and the Toyota Junior Golf World Cup in Japan. Last year, she took home the runner-up trophy from the 2018 European Ladies' Club with a career-best low round 65 (-7). In 2014 at just 12-years-old, Martin was crowned the Basque Country Champion with a round of 66. She has earned nine top-10 finishes in her career.
Martin is the daughter of Guillermo Aseguinolaza and Elena Martin.
