Women's Golf Finishes 6th At Ruth's Chris Invitational

Auburn's Anna Davis won the individual title and led the Auburn Tigers to the team championship Sunday at the Ruth Chris' Tar Heel Invitational at UNC's Finley Golf Club.

The Tigers shot 281-274-280 for a 5-under 835 total, 15 strokes ahead of second-place Duke (10-over 850).

NC State (+11) was third, Virginia Tech was fourth (+20), South Carolina (+22) was fifth, the Tar Heels (+24) placed sixth, Kentucky (+35) was seventh, Purdue (+37) was eighth, number-one ranked Wake Forest (+38) was ninth and Michigan (+41) was 10th.

Davis shot rounds of 69-67-67 for a 7-under 203 total and three-shot victory. Virginia Tech's Emily Matthews (-4) was runner-up, NC State's Marie Madsen (-3) finished third and Duke's Andie Smith, the defending champion, and Auburn's Anna Fernandez and Balma Davalos tied for fourth at 2 under.

Freshman Grace Ridenour, playing as an individual entry, led the Tar Heels with a tie for eighth place. The Pinehurst native shot 70-70-73 for 3-over 213.

Reagan Southerland (70-76-70) tied for 17th at 6-over 216, Helen Yeung (72-70-75) and Marie Prats-Rigual (72-74-7) tied for 21st at 7 over, Ing Iadpluem (69-78-73) tied for 32nd at 10 over, Katie Vu (73-72-76) tied for 35th at 11 over, Inez Ng (70-75-77) tied for 40th at 12 over and Ellen Yu (74-74-78) tied for 53rd at 16 over.
