Pineda Named To All-South Regional Team

KANSAS CITY, Mo. (Dec. 9, 2019) -- Mauricio Pineda was named to the 2019 United Soccer Coaches Division I Men's Soccer All-South Regional Team, the site announced Monday. The senior captain for the Tar Heels was named to the second-team, giving him back-to-back All-South Regional Team honors as he was a first-team member in 2018.
Pineda, a native of Bolingbrooke, Illinois, has been an anchor for the Tar Heel midfield for the last four years and is a Senior CLASS Award Finalist. The senior captain has played in every game during his last four years and has been named to an All-ACC team each season, including a first-team member in 2018 and 2019. Pineda was second on the team with five goals scored and third on the team in total points with 12. He also led the team in shots (52), shots on goal (23) and game-winning goals (3).
