One outstanding member of each Tar Heel team was honored on Saturday, Feb. 23, as UNC announced winners of the Athletic Director's Scholar-Athlete Awards for 2018-19. The award recipients were recognized at halftime of the North Carolina-Florida State men's basketball game at the Dean E. Smith Center.
The award goes annually to a junior or senior on each team who has displayed academic excellence while representing North Carolina in a varsity sport.
"Watching the winners of this award applauded at center court every year is truly special," said UNC Director of Athletics Bubba Cunningham, who joined the student-athletes on the court. "Since they're all juniors and seniors, I've seen how well they represent Carolina. They've all worked really hard academically and athletically, and we expect great things from them as they graduate and move on to their chosen fields."
