Tar Heels Finish Second at Bryan National Collegiate

BROWNS SUMMIT, NC – After three rounds of the Bryan National Collegiate, the Tar Heels' women's golf team earned a second-place finish, with a cumulative score of 2-under-par 862. It is the team's best finish of the 2018-19 season.
Picking up off of her strong second round performance, freshman Jennifer Zhou pieced together another 2-under-par 70 in the final round of the tournament, and finished in a tie for 4th. Zhou's final round was composed of seven birdies, six pars and five bogeys.
Competing as an individual this weekend, junior Mariana Ocano also recorded a 2-under-par 70 in her final round, and finished in a tie for 40th. Ocano's round featured three birdies, fourteen pars and one bogey.
Senior Kelly Whaley compiled a second consecutive 1-under-par 71 performance in the third round, which had four birdies, eleven pars and three bogeys. Whaley finished in a tie for 14th.
Sophomore Ava Bergner shot an even-par 72 and finished in a tie for 21st. Freshman Nicole Lu recorded a 2-over-par 74 and finished in a tie for 33rd. Junior Brynn Walker rounded out the Tar Heels' scoring in the third and final round with a 6-over-par 78, she finished in a tie for 18th.
Leading wire-to-wire, the Wake Forest Demon Deacons won the Bryan National Collegiate with a cumulative tournament score of 34-under-par 830. This marks the Deacons second straight victory in the Bryan National Collegiate.
The Tar Heels will be back in action on Monday April 8, at the Brickyard Collegiate in Macon, GA.
