#1 UNC Tops Jackets To Clinch Share Of ACC Regular Season Title

ATLANTA – No. 1 North Carolina clinched a share of the Atlantic Coast Conference women's tennis regular season title with a 4-1 victory over No. 33 Georgia Tech Friday afternoon. The Tar Heels have won 16 straight matches are now 25-1 on the year and 13-0 against the ACC.
North Carolina has gone 26 straight matches without dropping the doubles point. Makenna Jones and Alle Sanford declared the first win of the day on court two, 6-3. No. 7 Jessie Aney and Alexa Graham wrapped up the doubles point on court one, 6-3.
In singles play, No. 12 Sara Daavettila quickly shutout her opponent on court three, 6-0. 6-0. No. 5 Jones got off the courts early today winning her match on court two, 6-3, 6-4.
No. 6 Graham was moved up to court one on Friday and faced a difficult matchup against No. 14 Kenya Jones, who wound up prevailing 7-5, 6-1, to give Georgia Tech its lone win on the day.
To clinch the match, No. 125 Aney took care of business on court five winning in a hard-fought three sets, 6-1, 2-6, 6-4.
No 36. Cameron Morra was in the lead on court three but did not finish. Chloe Ouellet-Pizer also did not finish on court six.
The Tar Heels finish up regular-season conference play at Virginia Tech on Sunday at 1 p.m. The ACC Championship will be held at Cary Tennis Park April 17-21 in Cary, N.C.
