GREENSBORO, N.C. – North Carolina's Jamie Ortega has been named the Atlantic Coast Conference Women's Lacrosse Offensive Player of the Week, and teammate Emma Trenchard was selected as the ACC Defensive Player of the Week.
Ortega had a dominating performance in Carolina's 19-5 win over 13th-ranked Duke on Saturday evening, finishing with six goals and two assists for eight points, adding two ground balls and a caused turnover. She tallied four goals and an assist in the first half alone as Carolina built a 9-3 led by halftime and clinched the No. 2 seed in the ACC Tournament.
Trenchard neutralized Duke's top scorer, holding her to just one goal on five shots, in a stellar defensive performance in the win on Saturday. Trenchard caused one turnover and gathered three ground balls while also dishing out her first career assist on a fast break in the win.
