Carolina To Play Virginia In First ACC Championship Game

 VIRGINIA SERIES HISTORYÂ
• This is the first time UNC and Virginia have met in the ACC Championship since the Cavaliers beat UNC 3-2 in 2014 in Greensboro.Â
• Under Mike Fox, UNC is 2-4 against Virginia in the ACC Championship.
• Earlier this season, UNC won the series against Virginia in Chapel Hill but was outscored 20-15. UNC dropped the first game 12-5 before winning the next two games, 5-4.Â
• UNC is 186-114-4 all time against Virginia.Â

• Aaron Sabato became the 7th Tar Heel to be named ACC Freshman of the Year joining Brian Roberts (1997), Adam Greenberg (2000), Daniel Bard (2004), Dustin Ackley (2007), Colin Moran (2011) and Ashton McGee (2017).
• First Team All-ACC outfielder Michael Busch has reached base in 28 straight games. The last time he failed to reach base was March 29 against Duke.
• UNC has been out hit in 28 games and have out hit their opponents in 24 games. UNC is 14-14 when being out hit this season. In 2018, they were 3-13.
• UNC is 3rd in the country in walks and 1st in the ACC in total walks with 339.
• Sabato is the first freshman to hit 10+ home runs since Levi Michael did so in 2009.
• Sabato now has 13 HRs on the season, putting him 2 behind Chad Flack's freshman record for home runs (15) which he set in 2005.Â
• UNC now has 16 games with 2+ errors and 14 games without an error. UNC is 11-3 in those games without an error and 10-6 in games with 2+ errors.Â
• Sabato led UNC in batting avg. (.358) in ACC play. The last freshman to lead UNC in batting avg. in ACC play was Colin Moran in 2011 when he hit .389 his freshman season.
• UNC has hit 61 home runs which is the most by any UNC team since 2009 (69).Â
• UNC has now hit 50+ home runs in the last 3 consecutive seasons. The last time UNC had 3 consecutive seasons of 50+ home runs was from 2006-2008.
• Michael Busch is the first Tar Heel to have back-to-back seasons with 10+ home runs since Chad Flack did so in 2005-2006 with 15 HR and 13 HR.
• UNC has scored 168 of its 395 runs (43% of its runs) in the first 3 innings this year.Â
• UNC is 22-2 when scoring in the first inning and 24-6 when scoring first in the game.
• In the last 2 seasons, UNC is 59-12 at Boshamer Stadium. Went 28-6 at home in 2018.
• Michael Busch is 3rd in the ACC in runs scored (63) and 4th in ACC play in RBI (33).
• Aaron Sabato became the first player since Colin Moran in 2012, as well as the first freshman under Mike Fox, to hit for the cycle when he did so on May 16 against NC State.
• In ACC play, Sabato (.358) and Serretti (.282) lead the team in batting average. It's the first time that two freshman have led the team in batting average since Josh Horton (.352) and Chad Flack (.350) did so in 2005.
• Ashton McGee has a base hit in 13 of his last 16 games and is hitting .367 in that span.
